Nawalpur, 21st November 2025
Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (Jcycn) meaningfully celebrated International Children’s
Day 2025 under the global theme “My Day, My Rights” by organizing an interactive discussion
program focused on the role of stakeholders in ensuring the nutrition and protection of children
and adolescents at Girls Learning Centre (GLC), Devchuli-10, Nawalpur, Gandaki Province.
The program was organized by Jcycn with the support of Kanallan and in coordination with the
Nawalpur Girls Network, Jagriti Child Club Nepal (Jccn), and Devchuli Municipality. The event
brought together children, Jcycn representatives, advisors, local stakeholders including Deputy
Mayors of Devchuli Municipality, Kawasoti Municipality, Madhyabindu Municipalty,
representatives from women, children & senior citizen depart, health depart, education depart,
CSOs leaders, peer educators, child rights activists, youth leaders, teachers, FCHVs, and
community members to reflect on ongoing efforts, identify challenges, and chart the future
direction for safeguarding child rights.
The session was led and facilitated by Mr. Deepak Prasad Bashyal, Kanallan Nepal Representative,
who emphasized the critical responsibilities of all stakeholders in advancing child health,
protection, and meaningful participation. He shared the concept, background, purpose, and impact
of nutrition- and education-focused initiatives, highlighting the importance of strategic
partnerships. Citing a powerful example from Bihadi Municipality, he explained how collaboration
among various municipal departments significantly amplified program outcomes.
Mr. Bashyal also expressed appreciation for the welcoming and proactive engagement of
Devchuli, Kawasoti, and Madhyabindu Municipalities. He emphasized the need to localize and

contextualize programs to ensure they effectively address community-specific challenges.
Underscoring the message that meaningful change is possible when local government, civil society
organizations, and communities work hand in hand, he highlighted how each stakeholder can play
a vital role in strengthening nutrition, protection, and overall well-being of children, girls, and
young people.
Referencing the recent Gen Z protests, he further stressed the importance of ensuring meaningful
inclusion of young people in decision-making processes and developmental initiatives.
The program also featured reflections and commitments from representatives of different sectors,
including:
Child Friendly Counselor of Devchuli Municipality, Mr. Narayan Prasad Poudel said “On the
occasion of International Children’s Day 2025, I extend my best wishes to all children.
Recognizing my responsibility as Child-Friendly Counselor of Devchuli Municipality, I reaffirm
my commitment to protecting and promoting the rights of every child.”
During the discussions, participants reaffirmed their collective commitment to strengthening child
rights, ensuring protection mechanisms, and empowering children and adolescents to unlock their
full potential. The event concluded with a shared understanding that collaboration among
government bodies, civil society, community networks, and young people remains essential for
building a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for every child.
