The Girl’s Learning Center (GLC) in Devchuli-10, Nawalpur, welcomed a
distinguished visitor whose presence marked a significant milestone for the
community and the ongoing dream project. The former Chief Minister of Gandaki
Province, Honorable Khagaraj Adhikari, made an official visit to the GLC, providing
essential suggestions and extending his best wishes for the center’s success.
Honorable Adhikari’s visit was a testament to his continued commitment to education
and community development. With a rich background in public service, including his
roles in federal government of Nepal as Home and Health Minister, Adhikari’s
insights and support are invaluable to the GLC project. His interest in the center’s
concept, operational strategies, target demographics, and sustainability highlights the
importance of this initiative in fostering learning opportunities for girls in the region.
During his visit, Adhikari engaged with the project leaders and offered constructive
feedback on various aspects of the GLC. He highlighted the critical importance of
timely completion of the construction phase with the help of donors to ensure that the
center becomes operational as planned. “The timely completion of this center is
crucial for it to serve its intended beneficiaries effectively,” Adhikari emphasized,
acknowledging the generous support from various donors that has made this project
possible.
Dipak Sharma, General Secretary of JCYCN (Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal),
provided a comprehensive overview of the GLC’s mission and vision. Sharma
explained that the GLC is designed as a model resource center aimed at empowering
girls and the broader community through education and skill development. “Our goal
is to create a sustainable and impactful learning environment that can serve as a
blueprint for similar initiatives across the country,” Sharma stated. He also announced
that with the support from Kanallan, the center is on track to be completed and
operational within this year.
The visit was attended by Devchuli Municipality Mayor Hari Prasad Neupane, Ward
Chairpersons of Devchuli-9 and 10, Baliram Sapkota and Repti Kumar Gharti,
showcasing their support. Additionally, prominent figures from the education and
social sectors, including Krishna Ghimire and Gopendra Keshari Neupane, attended
the event. The presence of Child Club graduates Sagar Neupane and Saugat Bhusal
added a touch of inspiration, showcasing the positive outcomes of community-based
programs.
The visiting delegation toured the construction site, observed the ongoing work, and
interacted with the project team. The discussions covered various aspects of the
project, from the architectural design of the facility to the learning that will be offered
once the center is operational. Hon. Adhikari’s practical suggestions were wellreceived by the team, who expressed their gratitude for his involvement and
